On August 26th we came across an eye opening article posted on diet blog (www.diet-blog.com). If you don't know it, get to know it. Sylvia C. Hall, a diet blog contributor, wrote the piece: "Corsets: Because Every Woman Has a Figure Problem". In it she called attention to the evolving image of woman in the media, but the ever-constant standard to uphold to whatever the image is during that time.
Her point, which she illustrated through the clever comparison corsets and girdles, was that women are constantly being told by advertisements they are not thin enough! As she describes them, "these oppressive articles" are unpleasant to wear and are doing it for the ridiculous pressure to meet the "norm"!

Diet Blog also has several bloggers who comment including some very interesting respondents representing various ends of the spectrum. Note to PHAB fans, do NOT underestimate the post-blog entries! They are often equally insightful and provide several prospectives on the topic.
